Online Vipassana weekend 30.10-01.11 2020

Friday 30 October 18:00 – Sunday 1 November 19:00, 2020. Versione

Guided by Henk Barendregt and Mirjam Hartkamp

Towards wholesome mental states

Mental states (moods) are very important: they determine how one feels and have a strong influence on our body and behaviour. Moreover, the mental states influence which new situations and followup states arise. In this way an interdependent chain of events is formed. We sometimes reinforce wholesome passages, but sometimes also unwholesome ones: we are conditioned. Using concentrated mindfulness we can start to observe the chain in a relaxed and friendly fashion. Then using insight and wisdom we can learn to develop wholesome mental states, allowing them to grow in frequency and stability. This enable increasing peace with ourselves, others and the world.

The retreat will be given as a sequence of sitting and walking exercises of each 45 minutes in the vipassana style of Mahasi Sayadaw. Originally a weekend retreat was foreseen for two days in Torino, Italy. Due to the present conditions the retreat will be held online using the platform Zoom.
